About us

The Charities Act 2006 established the Charity Tribunal. The Act received Royal Assent in November 2006 and applies to England and Wales.

The Tribunal is part of the Tribunals Service, an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice. Tribunal members are appointed by the Lord Chancellor following recommendation from the Judicial Appointments Commission.

The President of the Tribunal is Alison McKenna and there are five legal members and seven ordinary members.
